Reader. Bella.

I choose Bella's book by Rachel Chaundler and Bernardo Carvalho to do a reader because I think that children would like the story and the funny pictures. I decided to do a reader because it had difficult vocabulary and long and complicate phrases for young children who have English as a second language to understand it.

In class I asked for previous knowledge about the book and then I asked a question to see the prediction of what was going to happened next.

This web shows you differents activities of drama that you can use with children. Maybe not all of them are good for very young children but you could adapt them to the age of 4 to 6 years old.

Tell "5 little dugs"

I had choos the book "5 little ducks" illustrated by Wendy Straw and edited by Brolly Books because it is a good book to tell very young children. This book has an easy vocabulary, a short, a repetitive structure and a big size with a pretty ilustration.

When I tell the story to the children I work the prediction asking before telling the book: What do you think is the story about?, What sounds do the ducks? and Where the ducks live?.

Since I tell the story I ask them: How many ducks appear now?.

Activities of "The very hungry caterpillar"

There are some activities that you can use in relation with The very hungry caterpillar, these activities are made before, while or after reading the book.

Before:

First talk with the children about worms and after about caterpillars.

Investigate about caterpillar: where they life, what they eat, how they grow,... We could see caterpillars, photos, videos,...

After the investigation we read "The very hungry caterpillar".

While:

We read the book, investigate with the children and we ask them about what happend in the book. Also we ask about:

- Is this caterpillar like others?

- Is good eat a lot of food?

- What happend with the caterpillar at the end of the story?

After:

We make a theatrical little perform with the children continuing the story.

Others activities:
We can have worms in class and see their live-cicle.
We play pretend to be caterpillars and we move as them. In this activity we can perform their life-cicle.
We see differents types of food and which are the best for the diet.

"Zog"

We´ll choose the book Zog to tell it to young children between 5 or 6 years old because it´s a good story, very funny and it´s very motivating. We thought that it´s better telling it instead of read it because it has difficult vocabulary so we´ll adapt it to this age. Other adaptation would be the large of the book so we´ll read it in two days.

With Zog children can improve their creativity and learn about different topics as a child do it in his life.

Reader of "Charlie and the chocolate factory"

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is about a child called Charlie who is a little boy that lives in a very small house with his parents and granparents.

Charlie loves chocolate, he would like to eat it everyday but his familiy haven´t got enough money to buy chocolate. For this reason, he looks forward to being his birthday because he´ll have a special present, that special gift is have a chocolate bar.

Although the wish of this boy is going to the chocolate´s factory that is close his house, he wants to visit it.
